How to view and edit PDF metadata
Read or update the supported title, author, subject and keyword fields. Existing values appear after the file passes inspection.
- An empty field clears that supported Info value when you export.
- Saving these fields removes stale XMP, but other identifying information may remain.
Common questions
Does this rename the file?
These fields describe the PDF internally. The downloaded file has a separate filename.
Can I anonymize a document this way?
No. Metadata editing is not complete anonymization. Page content, embedded resources and other information may still identify the source.
