Supported files & split details
One PDF up to 4 MB (4,000,000 bytes) and 20 pages. Create up to 20 PDFs, with at most 20 exported pages and 2 MiB (2,097,152 bytes) combined results. Overlapping ranges are allowed and repeated pages count again. Each PDF downloads separately; ZIP download is not available.
Original previews are optional and support files up to 2 MB with separate rendering limits. A missing thumbnail does not mean the PDF is damaged. Internal links must keep their destination in the same output; unsupported links stop the split rather than being discarded.
Supported classic AES-256 revision 6 PDFs continue with the owner password. Forms, attachments, scripts, signatures, hybrid references and unsupported compression are not supported. Bounded compressed object/cross-reference streams and validated incremental revisions remain supported. Metadata, supported annotations, page geometry and native rotation are preserved where supported. Your original stays unchanged.
Processing stays in this tab and its Workers. Browser extensions may still access files. Results expire after 15 minutes or leaving/reloading. Review and download them before closing the tab.

How to split a PDF into separate files
Choose page ranges to create one PDF per range, or choose Every page separately for one PDF per original page. Use the optional thumbnails or enter page numbers, then split and download.
- Ranges include both endpoints and keep your listed order. You can overlap ranges within the 20-page export limit.
- Split supports one PDF up to 4 MB and 20 pages, with 2 MiB of combined results. Each finished PDF downloads separately.
Common questions
Does splitting change my original?
No. PDFLane reads the selected file and creates new downloads. Your original file on the device is unchanged.
Why was my page range rejected?
Choose pages that exist in the PDF, with the first number no greater than the last. Overlapping pages count again toward the 20-page export limit. Apply valid edits before splitting. Internal links must keep their destination in the same output PDF.
What if I need one PDF containing selected pages?
Use Extract pages instead. For example, splitting ranges 1-2 and 5-6 produces two PDFs; Extract can keep those four pages together in one PDF.
