Supported files & limits

One PDF up to 4 MB and 20 pages. OCR can instead take one JPG/PNG scan. PDF-to-images and OCR render at most five selected pages, 2 million pixels each and 4 million total. Results: 2 MiB total, temporarily available in this tab for up to 15 minutes.

Supported PDFs include bounded compressed object and cross-reference streams and validated incremental revisions. Forms, attachments, scripts, signatures, hybrid references and unsupported compression remain unavailable. Unlock supports classic AES-256 revision 6 with its owner password. Images use standard 8-bit PNG or JPEG.

How to unlock a PDF with the owner password

Remove supported encryption from a document you own or are permitted to modify. The engine checks the owner password rather than attempting password recovery.

Enter the existing owner password exactly; it is not trimmed or changed.
The downloaded PDF is unencrypted. Store and share it with appropriate care.

Common questions

Why does the opening password not work?

PDFLane requires the owner password to change protection. A password that only opens the file is insufficient.

Which encrypted PDFs are supported?

Classic AES-256 revision 6 files within the supported structural limits. Other encryption formats and unknown-password recovery are unavailable.
